Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Thom Brennamann arrested after homophobic slur caught on hot mic

Cincinnati Reds play-by-play announcer Thom Brennaman was stopped by the organization after uttering a homophobic slur on a live microphone.

The incident happened between innings during the first game of a Reds doubleheader against the Royals in Kansas City on Wednesday.

The veteran of the sports broadcast apologized in the second match of the doubleheader, after the clip went viral.

“I’m proud, I think of myself as a man of faith,” he said. “I do not know if I will put this headset back on, I do not know if it will be for the Reds. I do not know if it will be for my bosses at Fox,” he added later.

“I want to apologize to the people who signed my salary, to the Reds, to Fox Sports Ohio, to the people I work with. To everyone I met here tonight, I’m not starting to tell you how deeply sorry I am, ”Brennaman continued.

“That’s not who I am and never have been, and I would like to think, maybe I should have some people who can bake that. I’m very, very sorry and I beg for your forgiveness,” he said. 56-year-old concluded.

He was later removed from the broadcast.

Brennaman was hired by Fox Sports Ohio in 2006.

The Hill has invited Fox Sports Ohio for comment.
