Christian McFrey is on the reserve / injured list

CHARLOTTE – The Panthers on Wednesday returned Christian McFarlane to the reserve / injured list and moved offensive lineman Chris Reed to the COVID-19 list on the active roster.

He was expected to be out for multiple games due to a sprained ankle sprain, and will now be sidelined for at least three. In 2020, teams may return a player from an injured reserve after spending only three games on the list. The Panthers will qualify McFarlane to return as soon as possible for a matchup against the Bears at Bank of America Stadium on October 18.

Although McFarlane was told the injury would force him to miss four to six weeks, he would like to return soon. Through two games, he has recorded 223 yards from four touchdowns and scrimmage.

When the Panthers travel to Los Angeles to play the Chargers in Week 3, Mike Davis will start in place of McFarry.

Reed has spent the last three weeks on the COVID-19 reserve list. It provides depth to the offensive line, which was without starting defender Dennis Daly in the first two games of the season.
