Chris Wallace calls Trump’s RNC address ‘far too long’ and ‘surprisingly flat’ despite ‘some good lines’

While “there was certainly impressive fireworks” at the National Mall following the conclusion of the Republican National Convention Thursday night, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace said he was “surprised by the lack of fireworks” in the speech of President Trump.

“The president went through all of his accomplishments during his first term – they are a large number and they are remarkable,” Wallace told Fox News’ response panel after Trump accepted the Republican nomination for the White House.

“Then he went to Joe Biden, and he had some good lines …,” said Wallace, “but I must say …. his delivery – and we’ve seen the president attract an audience – was surprisingly flat and it did not seem to have the bite he usually has in his speeches. “

In his remarks, Trump took aim at his Democratic rival and tried to see a clear contrast between himself and the former vice president.

Wallace added that the speech was “far too long – just 70 minutes” and resembled a state of the Union address.

But, the host went on to praise Trump’s “ambitious plan for a second term,” which includes “10 million jobs in ten months, bringing medical supply chains back to the US” [and] deal with already existing conditions.

“One more thing we need to note,” Wallace concluded, “and that is the event itself. Ignoring the fact that there were 2,000 people in close quarters on Soth Lawn there with apparently quite a few wearing masks, no social distance all recommendations for public health, I think that will get a lot of comments in the coming days.
