Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Patki celebrated 10 years of marriage in December.

And three months after celebrating their Milestone Anniversary, Elsa has shared the secret of their long and happy relationship.

The Spanish actress of the year told Sunday Life that patience, communication and understanding are important for a successful marriage.

Elsa also explained that it is important to spend time as a couple without children.

Chris and Elsa started dating in early 2010 and were married in December of that year.

They welcomed daughter India Rose in 2012 and their twin sons, Tristan and Sasha, later in 2014.

After relocating from Los Angeles, the family of five now lives in Byron Bay on the North Coast of New South Wales.

In December, Chris paid a heartfelt tribute to his wife as she celebrated her 10-year marriage.
