Chris Godwin of Tampa Bay Bookers performs surgery on a broken finger

Tampa, Fla. – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Pro Bowl wide receiver Chris Godwin suffered a broken index finger against the Las Vegas Riders on Sunday and is undergoing surgery Tuesday, sources confirmed to ESPN.

He will not play in the Monday Night Football game in the New York Giants.

The news was previously reported by the Tampa Bay Times.

Gwyn Dwight fractured his left index finger to make a 31-20 bucks lead from Tom Brady, catching a fourth-quarter touchdown on a 4-yard strike.

Godwin, who finished with 1,333 yards last season – the third-highest in the NFL despite missing the last two games of the season – has had terrible luck with injuries this year. He lost Week 2 with a weapon injury and lost Week 4-5.

A source close to the situation said Godwin could return to the Bucks Week 9 game against their divisional rival, the New Orleans Saints.

Books still inflicts injuries on their receiving corps, which is why the team signed Antonio Brown. Pro Bowl wide receiver Mike Evans has been limited to 4 weeks due to an ankle injury. Scotty Miller is dealing with a hip and groin injury, but he produced his first career 100-yard game on Sunday.
