‘LIFELONG REPUBLICAN’ KASICH PRESSES FELLOW GOPERS TO ABANDON TRUMP IN DNC SPEECH
“He’s a backstabber, and he’s an untruthful man,” Christie said of his fellow Republicans. “Tonight, Republicans will look at that and go, ‘You can have him. Please, believe me, give us a break, get him out of our party, you’ll take him for a while.’ Because on top of that, I worked a lot with John. He is exhausting. “
Christie and Kasich ran against each other in the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
President Trump stepped up after criticism of the former governor of Ohio.
“John Kasich did a bad job in Ohio, ran for president and was easily defeated, and now went to the other side desperate for relevance. Good job Chris C when exposing another loser! He wrote on Twitter.
“He was a loser as a Republican, and he will be a Democratic loser,” Trump told reporters Tuesday. “Big loser as a Republican. I think you can quote me on that. John was a Republican a loser. Never even came close. And as a Democrat he will be an even bigger loser.”
Kasich was one of several Republican officials to speak Monday at the opening night of the Democratic Convention. Former New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman, New Sister Susan Molinari from New York spoke at the most virtual convention.

In Kasich’s speech with the support of Joe Biden, he called on fellow Republicans to “take off our partisan hats and put our nation first for ourselves and, of course, for our children.”
“I am a lifelong Republican, but that attachment comes second to my responsibility for my country. That is why I have chosen to appear at this congress, “Kasich continued.
He noted that “in normal times such a thing would probably never happen, but these are not normal times. I am proud of my Republican heritage. It is Lincoln’s party that reflects its basic principles of unity and a higher purpose. “But what I have witnessed for the past four years, these main characters marry.”
