Chris Bosh reportedly gave a verbal agreement to the Bulls in 2010

The Chicago Bulls chased Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James during the 2010 offseason and at the time they were sure they would at least sign Bosh.

“For me, the story and the conversation start with Chris Bosh,” said Nick Friedell on the Brian Windhorst podcast. “Because you talk to people in the Bulls organization, including the former players … Chris Bosh said he would come directly to the Bulls.”

“Chris Bosh and the Bulls were supposed to be together, at least in Chicago’s mind. And then, as that week went on, as I know you go down in history, they said, ‘What’s going on here?’

“As far as the Bulls were concerned, they felt they had a commitment, at least some people in the organization, from Chris Bosh. They felt that Dwyane Wade would follow them. That they expected that to work, especially as the days went by he continued in that first weekend.

“So seeing everything fall apart like that and seeing the three big guns go to Miami as they did, frankly, I still don’t think the Bulls have gotten past all of this.”

Later in the podcast, Friedell indicates that Bosh gave the Bulls a verbal commitment during their meeting.

“Chris Bosh, according to more than one person in the organization, said, ‘I’m going to play for the Bulls.’ Directly. He said, ‘I’m going to play for the Bulls. This is where I’m going to be.'”
