Choreographer Ace Saroj Khan passes away due to cardiac arrest in Mumbai


MUMBAI: Veteran choreographer Saroj Khan, who was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on June 20 after complaining of respiratory problems, died today.

The last Saroj Khan rites will be held today at Malvani in Malad, Mumbai.

She died due to cardiac arrest in the ICU of Guru Nanak Hospital, where she was admitted on June 20 after she complained of respiratory problems.

In a career spanning more than four decades, Khan was credited with choreographing over 2,000 songs.

The three-time National Award winner had choreographed for some of the most memorable songs, including “Dola Re Dola” by Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Devdas”, “Ek Do Teen” by Madhuri Dixit star “Tezaab” and “Ye Ishq Haaye “from” Jab We Met “in 2007.

Saroj Khan rose to fame in the late 1980s, choreographing Sridevi’s super hits like “Main naagin tu sapera” (Nagina “) and” Hawaa hawaai “(” Mr India “).

Lately, she had been selective in signing new projects. Her recent works include Kangana Ranaut’s choreography on “Manikarnika” last year and “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” in 2015. Her last major task was directing Madhuri’s movements in last year’s release, “Kalank”.

She last choreographed for “Tabaah Hogaye”, with Madhuri from filmmaker Karan Johar’s production “Kalank” in 2019.
