The Chipotle CEO promised an investigation after Colts linebacker Darius Leonard said he had a racial profile at a restaurant in Florence, South Carolina.

Leonard said on Instagram that he and four other people, all of color, were eating when the Chipotle manager approached their table with a “terrible attitude” and was “very disrespectful,” telling them that another customer had complained about them. Leonard said he was later expelled.

“That is what it is to be black in the United States right now,” Leonard said. “We don’t even do anything wrong, we go out to eat with his family, we just try to spend some quality time and we can’t even enjoy eating anymore.”

After Leonard’s post caught attention on social media, Chipotle released a statement from its CEO promising to take the matter seriously.

“We are currently investigating the incident involving Darius Leonard in Florence, South Carolina,” said Chipotle CEO Brian Niccol. “We have a zero tolerance policy for any type of discrimination and we have suspended our manager while conducting a thorough investigation. I personally contacted Darius and I am committed to ensuring that appropriate action is taken once the investigation is complete. “

Leonard, 24, was born and raised in South Carolina. He is a professional bowler heading to his third season with the Colts.
