One of China’s most popular streamers recently announced that it has opted to play its Cyberpunk 2077-playing role due to receiving massive backlog of fans online.
之 之 C 菌 is one of the most famous YouTubers in all of China. According to a user on Reddit, she was one of several Chinese streamers who intended to make a comeback in Cyberpunk 2077, whether as stars of ads in the game or as minor voice actors.
The announcement was widely discussed on Chinese social media, with fans wondering if it was necessary for a game to appear so famous. Some people went further, specifically criticizing individual streamers and questioning their acting skills.
渗透 之 C 菌 was one of the people who was targeted. Although she is one of the most successful streamers in China, she has been criticized in the past for her sexuality and ‘sell-out’ to The Last of Us Part 2, which, according to the Reddit post, is “overwhelming was criticized “by players on Chinese social media.
Two days after CD Project Red announced that streamers would be making comos in Cyberpunk 2077, 渗透 之 C announced her dismissal from the project on social media.
“I am very honored to be chosen as an Easter Egg streamer in the game and do voice acting for some NPCs,” she wrote, as translated in the Reddit post. “I love the game, so I accepted their offer and ended my recording in early 2020 in CDPR UK studio.”
“Unfortunately, after the announcement I got a lot of disputes from the online community, so I lost the role and asked CDPR to remove my voting line from the game. I hope this incident will not undermine the expectation of the players after the game. ”
The announcement has also been removed from CD project Red’s social media, where it has apparently been replaced by a video about Chinese speech performances and localization in Cyberpunk 2077. Apparently, an estimated 10,000 hours have gone into these departments.
It’s sad to see, but that sadness is not surprising when you consider how fans reacted to The Last of Us Part 2 leaks when they originally appeared online. What could have been a fun opportunity for a popular streamer has instead become a target on their backs. Hopefully the backlog will end soon and she will move forward with other opportunities in the future.
