Chinese studios are no strangers to outsourcing for the biggest AAA titles, but local teams are also starting to tackle their own projects. We’ve seen signs of this through Sony’s China Hero project, which is designed to help independent teams port their titles to the PlayStation 4 and release them worldwide. Some highlights from the region hand-picked by the Japanese giant include the promising Devil May Cry-inspired character action game Lost Soul Aside and upcoming sidescroller FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch.
The platform holder must seek to move mountains to add Black myth: Wu Kong to his portfolio, however, because this title of title stocks a many of attention online. Developed by Game Science, a team of ex-Tencent Games employees, this Journey to the West-inspired character-action-game looks absolutely gorgeous. The larger-than-life fighter has a hint of Dark Souls on it, but some of the special moves stumble across the FromSoftware format, and come closer to, say, God of War.
As for the presentation, the developer says that this will be released on “mainstream consoles”, but it seems like next gen decision for us. There is currently no release date planned, and we have to keep in mind that it will only be a matter of time before PlayStation tries to add it to its portfolio. However, first check out the above-embedded gameplay demo of about 15 minutes – it’s really good.
