Within a month, three retired soldiers emerged in Hubei who were brave enough to remove their olive leaves, but they were still brave soldiers.

They dress in military uniforms, they are intrepid warriors facing swords and fires; they take off their military uniforms, they remain brave soldiers when the lives and property of the masses are threatened.

Since November, in the land of Jingchu, three veterans have emerged successively. In recent days, a reporter for the Chutian Metropolis Daily reached out to them and learned of the extraordinary stories behind these ordinary heroes.

Huang rui

5 people rescued from a spilled car in a rollover

Huang Rui, 31 this year, comes from Yaoping Village, Shenji Town, Shayang County, Jingmen City. He returned to his hometown after 12 years of military service and is now doing a temporary internship at the Security Section of the Jingmen City Bureau of Education. At around 2:15 p.m. on November 29, he led his wife along the Jingmen East Third Ring Road from north to south. When he was not far from the Jingxin Expressway intersection, he saw a white pickup truck hurtling towards the edge of the road. Abandon and turn sideways, cab down.

Huang Rui immediately stopped and turned on the double flash, and ran closer to see that the accident car had leaked oil and had not stalled. Huang Rui, who is experienced in handling emergencies in the military, knows very well that this car can have a secondary accident at any time, once the spilled gasoline ignites, the consequences will be disastrous. He told his wife he was following him and dialed 120 and 110 for help.

Huang Rui hunched over and approached the crashed car, discovering through the window that the front airbag had come off. “I can’t wait any longer, I have to save people immediately.” Huang Rui yelled for the trapped personnel to cooperate and did his best to open the right rear door, first rescuing a woman in her 50s and then rescuing two children in their 10s. And then he rescued a female passenger and a male driver. After ambulance 120 arrived at the scene of the incident, the five people were taken to hospital for treatment.

As early as April this year, the Jingmen Veterans Affairs Office received a letter of praise for Huang Rui. It turned out that Huang Rui, who was quarantined in his hometown during the epidemic, brought his own dry food and transportation, and visited the village with the village officials to spread awareness of epidemic prevention and deliver supplies of life and medicine to villagers in need. He also picked vegetables grown on his own land and bought some of them himself. He made a car weighing more than 2,000 kilograms and sent it to the Shayang County People’s Hospital.

In this rescue, Huang Rui briefly informed the leader after the incident, the wounded man wanted to thank his benefactor through the media, and only then did he find him. After learning of Huang Rui’s actions, the local Jingmen declared to him “Jingmen good man.” When Huang Rui served in the old army after seeing his reports, they also sent him and publicized him.

Hu Zhengang

He rescued a mother and her child from the river on a winter night.

Hu Zhengang, 42, joined the army in 1995 and retired from the army in 2008 and returned to Qianjiang. He is currently a staff member of the Financial Management Office of the Taifeng Sub-District Office in Qianjiang City. He is also the captain of the Taifeng Road Jiefang Village Task Force in the village. On November 13, Hu Zhengang, who had just returned home from the work team, went to find his daughter who had just finished studying at night.

At around 9 p.m., when they were walking towards Nanmenhe amusement park, not far from home, they suddenly heard a cry for help. Hu Zhengang ran to follow the sound and saw an aunt on the shore screaming for help. There was a boy in the water, holding his hand on the bottom edge of the waterscape platform, only his head was above the water.

It was getting late and there were only a few pedestrians on the shore. Hu Zhengang asked the boy, “Are you alone in the water?” The boy replied, “Mom is still in the water.” Hu Zhengang took off his jacket and jumped into the water without hesitation, finding that he couldn’t step on it. He took a deep breath, plunged into the water, and searched the water for someone, putting his shoulders over his head to show the water.

There was no place to focus on the waterscape platform, and Hu Zhengang could not push the mother and son ashore with his own strength, and could only insist on holding the mother and son. About ten minutes later, the citizens who came to help from the shore took them ashore. Hu Zhengang asked the aunt next to him to give artificial respiration to the mother who fell into the water. Seeing her react after two or three minutes, the mother and girl were fine, so she put on her jacket and took her daughter with her.

On the way, Hu Zhengang received a call from the police. It turned out that he asked his daughter to call 110 and 120 for help when she was saving people. But the nervous daughter could not tell the place of the incident. Hu Zhengang told the police where he was. When the police wanted to ask him for information, Hu Zhengang said, “Stop looking for me, go and save people.”

After learning of Hu Zhengang’s rescue operation, his unit sent him 2000 yuan condolences, and he turned around and donated it to public welfare companies.

In fact, it is not the first time that Hu Zhengang has entered the water to save people. Last summer, at Caoyu Park in Qianjiang City, a boy accidentally fell into the water while collecting lotus leaves. He jumped up and rescued the boy without even thinking. As a result, the mobile phone was damaged and had to be replaced. The reporter learned that Hu Zhengang was awarded the title of advanced individual by the city of Qianjiang.

Zhou Qing

Run the red light to rescue the injured

At 5 p.m. on November 23, it was drizzling, and Zhou Qing, a disabled soldier and 38-year-old veteran from Jiayu County, drove to the Jiayu City District to work. When he reached the Caichang section of Guanqiao city, he saw a group of people in front of him and a white motorcycle overturned on the side of the road. A woman in her 60s fell to the ground and lost consciousness, her face was covered in blood and the wound was bleeding.

Zhou Qing did not leave after seeing this and helped the traffic police evacuate the vehicle the entire way. Because the ambulance has not arrived yet, the family prepares to stop the vehicle to take the injured to the hospital.

“No need, my car is on the side of the road, I’ll take you to the hospital!” Zhou Qing quickly ran to the car, and together with the crowd at the scene, he slowly led the injured to his car. On the premise of ensuring safety, Zhou Qing took the injured to Jiayu County People’s Hospital at the fastest speed and went through several red lights.

After arriving at the hospital, Zhou Qing did not leave. He helped find a doctor and a stretcher, pushed the injured to the emergency room for related exams, and paid 800 yuan for medical expenses. During the period, when the injured uncle Ren Huosheng asked for his name and phone number, he smiled slightly and did not respond. After being busy for nearly three hours, Zhou Qing quietly left after sending the injured woman to the intensive care unit.

“Without him, my mother could be in danger!” On December 1, injured son Ren Shuiyin and uncle Ren Huosheng presented an embroidered pennant with a “model of the contemporary era of Lei Feng” to Zhou Qing. Zhou Qing’s violation history of running a red light at that time was also canceled by the traffic control department.

In fact, this is not the first time that Zhou Qing has done this. One morning in October 2017, when Zhou Qing walked past the Guanqiao Village Committee, he found an aunt lying next to a motorcycle on the side of the road. Everyone did not dare to step forward to help. Zhou Qing walked forward without hesitation, taking care of her aunt, while she took out her aunt’s mobile phone and called her family.

In 1999, Zhou Qing, who graduated from high school, enrolled to join the army and retired in 2004. In 2012, he returned to Jiayu hometown and contracted more than 800 acres of fish ponds and became fisherman. In August 2019, Zhou Qing enrolled in the “One Village Multi-University Student Program” exam and successfully passed the exam, becoming a student of Bioengineering College of Xianning Vocational and Technical College.

During the epidemic this year, even though his family was not wealthy, Zhou Qing did not hesitate to donate 10,000 yuan to support the fight against the epidemic. On April 27, he contacted his classmates and bought 5,000 masks on his own and donated them to the Jiayu County Experimental Elementary School.

Today, Zhou Qing is learning while raising fish. He said, “When you enter the barracks in one day, the soul of the army will always be in your heart. Everything I do is the responsibility and responsibility of a soldier. Any soldier will do this when he meets other people’s difficulties.”
