On August 30, 2018, PSV announced through a Skype conversation between Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutiérrez that the latter was to make the final move from Mexico to Eindhoven. Flight start
About two weeks later, on September 15, 2018, the left leg debuted on PSV; and as In a 0-7 victory over ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie, he replaced Pablo Rosario in the 70th minute, three minutes later he delivered a perfect assist to Lozano with a shallow pass. Goodbye to childhood friend “Chucky”
On August 23, 2019, Gutiérrez suffered the following blow: Hirving Lozano, with whom he played in the Pachuca first team from 2009 and from 2017 to 2017, left for SSC Napoli. Wasting on the couch

New opportunity under Schmidt?
The question now is whether Erick Gutiérrez will have a new opportunity at Philips Stadium with the next coach, Roger Schmidt. German uses a very specific home play style in a characteristic formation. In that formation, usually a 4-2-2-2, Schmidt always wants to have a real vacuum on the shaft. That will not be Gutiérrez, but rather a Hendrix type.
Voetbal International wrote in a predictive article about Schmidt at PSV that the arrival of former RB coach Salzburg and Bayer Leverkusen may be good news for players like Rosario, Hendrix and Michal Sadílek, but probably not for Gutiérrez. “With his qualities on the ball, he could assume the role of a passer, but he tells the Mexican that he is very vulnerable in duels and that he also has positional defensive problems,” the outlet said.
And so it seems increasingly that the high expectations around the Eindhoven midfielder will never be met. In South and Central America there are serious sounds about a return to Mexico: Club América (the former employer of Ajax player Edson Álvarez) and Chivas de Guadalajara would have no less than 8 million euros for him. Perhaps now he is waiting for PSV that such an offer really arrives, because the Gutiérrez case threatens to result in an unsolved case.
