Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, September 27. On September 27, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Bozker, President of the 75th UN General Assembly.

Wang Yi congratulated Bozker on his appointment as president of the 75th UN General Assembly and said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations and that the current UN General Assembly is of special importance. President Xi Jinping recently attended a series of high-level meetings on the 75th anniversary of the United Nations in video mode and delivered important speeches, defending the concept of multilateralism, maintaining the central position of the United Nations, calling for strengthening and improving global governance, building a community with a shared future for humanity, and responding to the diverse traditions and issues it faces today. Traditional challenges have proposed Chinese solutions.

Wang Yi pointed out that in the face of the new impact of the new corona pneumonia epidemic, all countries should come together more closely to form a joint international fight against the epidemic. China supports the United Nations to play an important role in this regard and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with various United Nations systems while jointly opposing the politicization and labeling of the epidemic, and adhere to the correct direction of international cooperation against the epidemic.

Wang Yi expressed that China appreciates Mr. President’s priority for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is in line with the common aspirations of most countries, especially developing countries. The reduction and alleviation of poverty are the most important goals of the 2030 Agenda, and we look forward to seizing the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations as an opportunity to put sustainable development in a more important position. Wang Yi emphasized that we have entered an era of global interconnection. In this global village, unilateralism, protectionism and isolationism have no way out and are unsustainable. Great power does not mean greater power, but greater responsibility. As a permanent member of the Security Council, China will firmly support the international system with the United Nations at its center and the international order based on international law.

Bozker said that as President of the UN General Assembly, the focus of this session is to promote the realization of the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, eradicate poverty and help countries in need, especially small and medium. Strengthening and defending multilateralism is a priority agenda of the General Assembly. China is an advocate and an important partner of multilateralism, and I hope to strengthen cooperation with China in this regard.
