Raymond van Barneveld won in a duel from his living room on Thursday against former rival Phil Taylor. The two arrested darts played against each other to raise money for a good cause.

Van Barneveld, 52, who played for the food bank, was 7-6 too strong for Taylor, seven years older. The Dutchman almost threw a nine-dart shot in the twelfth stretch, but missed his ninth double twelve arrow. A leg later won the victory.

The game, created by both players’ arrow sponsor, was streamed through a broadcast. It was not a live broadcast, so it was not possible to bet on the result.

Van Barneveld played at his home in The Hague and Taylor at his home in the English town of Stoke-on-Trent. The launch was made on a soft-tip electronic board. It contains a camera and a microphone, so that darters can be seen and heard.

Van Barneveld and Taylor together won 21 world titles

Five-time world champion Van Barneveld retired as a professional dart player late last year, while sixteen-world champion Taylor retired from the sport in 2018.

“Barney” and “The Power” met a total of 83 times, including two in the PDC World Cup final. Van Barneveld was the strongest in a thriller (7-6) in 2007 and Taylor won no less than 7-1 against her rival in 2009.

The “royal” darts have been closed for the time being due to the crown crisis. The resumption of the Premier League has been further postponed on Thursday, July 30.
