The Huangtai Tunnel is the third tunnel after the new line of National Highway 109 enters the mountain, the length of the tunnel is 4 kilometers, and it is also the second longest tunnel of the new line of National Highway 109.
Surrounded by mountains in Miaofengshan City, Mentougou District, the inclined shaft of the Huangtai Tunnel has just been opened. For this reason, the Huangtai Tunnel installed a sloping shaft in the middle of the tunnel. Workers and mechanical equipment started from the sloped shaft in the middle and drove to the east and west sides. This increased the work surface in two directions and greatly shortened the construction time. After the start of the construction of the main line, almost 300 workers will work on the shaft day and night to ensure that the tunnel can be connected by the end of 2023.
At present, the problems of land acquisition, house demolition and slag disposal, which restrict the progress of the project’s construction, have been basically solved. Construction has begun on the 39 starting points identified for the project, and construction of tunnels, bridges, pile foundations and piers are progressing rapidly.
The 109 National Highway New Line High Speed Project is located in Mentougou District, starting from the Junzhuang Interchange of the West Sixth Ring Road, passing west through Longquan, Junzhuang, Miaofeng Mountain, Wangping, Yanchi, Zhaitang, Qingshui and other cities, and ends at the city limit and the Zhangzhuo Expressway junction has a total length of 65.4 kilometers and a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour. Depending on the construction period, the new National Highway 109 will be completed in 2023.
The new line of National Highway 109 basically covers almost all scenic places in Mentougou, West Beijing, such as Miaofeng Mountain, West Beijing Pools, Baihua Mountain, etc. Previously, citizens could only take winding mountain roads to reach these scenic spots, which took a long time. Once National Highway 109 is completed, passing time will be shortened considerably and road congestion around scenic spots will ease during holidays and peak tourist seasons.
