The best high-end smartphone of 2020

In recent weeks, Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, and OnePlus have unveiled their latest top device. At a high price, there are equally high demands and expectations. Android Planet Therefore, it has thoroughly tested the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Oppo Find X2 Pro, OnePlus 8 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S20. The year is still young, but for now these are the best high-end smartphones of 2020.

1. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the best Samsung smartphone to date. The device has impressive hardware, a large 5000 mAh battery and revamped cameras. The S20 Ultra takes great photos and has some unique features like 100x Space Zoom. In practice, however, this is mainly fun. trickBut no more than that.

It’s also a shame that the S20 Ultra’s excellent 120Hz display puts great pressure on battery life. On the other hand, Samsung’s flagship charges very fast and is fully equipped. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is, therefore, the best Android flagship so far, but it is also by far the most expensive.

2. OnePlus 8 Pro 5G

Are you looking for a good high-end smartphone, but the S20 Ultra is too expensive? So the OnePlus top model can be a good alternative. The OnePlus 8 Pro is once again a bit more refined than its predecessor, the OnePlus 7T Pro. So it can finally wirelessly charge the device too, the battery life is good and thanks to the powerful processor the device it’s super fast.

In contrast, the OnePlus 8 Pro is more expensive than its predecessor, and that slightly reduces the value for money. The device has a quad camera module on the back with a 48-megapixel main camera and wide-angle lens, 8-megapixel zoom lens, and 5-megapixel lens that records light. In this way, each photo has a unique touch. The device also has 5G support so you can use the Internet very quickly.

A separate OnePlus 8 Pro 5G costs 899 euros. In our price comparison, you will find the best deals for a subscription OnePlus 8 Pro 5G.

3. Samsung Galaxy S20

In our opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the best high-end smartphone of the moment. However, there is a huge price. If you’re looking for a high-end smartphone but on a slightly lower budget, the “normal” Galaxy S20 is a great alternative.

This device has a beautiful screen with high resolution, it can charge at lightning speed and the photo quality is also clear. In addition, it is equipped with a powerful processor and the 120Hz screen provides smooth animations. Unfortunately, this refresh rate affects the battery life of the device. The Galaxy S20 has also dropped in price since its launch, which has improved it in terms of value for money.

You want to know more? Then watch our video review below, where the device is discussed in detail. Also read our Samsung Galaxy S20 Written Review for more information. A separate Samsung Galaxy S20 is available from around 740 euros. You pay for a Samsung Galaxy S20 with subscription in monthly installments.

Oppo Find X2 Pro

The Find X2 Pro is Oppo’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. It has a beautiful 120Hz display, incredibly powerful hardware, and a super fast charger. The zoom camera also does its job properly, and thanks to the virtually borderless display, the Find X2 Pro is ideal for watching movies and playing games.

However, the Oppo sample device also has drawbacks. Surprisingly, it cannot charge wirelessly and the dual sim is also missing. These two features are now almost standard on Android flagships. Also, the device’s ColorOS software has fierce opponents. Some find the software messy and illogical. We’re also not a fan of ColorOS.

In our Oppo Find X2 Pro review you can read why. We also extensively discussed the pros and cons of Oppo’s flagship. A separate Oppo Find X2 Pro currently costs 1,199 euros. Do you want an Oppo Find X2 Pro with subscription? So you can only go to T-Mobile at the moment.

Other Android Flagships

2020 is not even halfway through, so we can’t talk about the best high-end smartphone. After all, many more flagships will be added over the course of this year. For example, we expect a new top model from Nokia and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will also be followed later this year.

Also, we have not yet been able to test the Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi’s top model. Therefore, this article is continually updated and supplemented throughout the year. In our Huawei P40 Pro review, you’ve already read why we’re not so excited about Huawei’s crown jewel.
