The Spring Festival is approaching and the flavor of the year grows stronger. This Spring Festival, in the face of the serious and complex situation of epidemic prevention and control, “do not go home if necessary, the Chinese New Year in place” has become a new initiative.
Xi’an CCTV News, February 5 (reporter Shu Longhuan, reporter-in-training Zhou Tongmi Caihong) The Spring Festival is coming and the flavor of the year is growing stronger. This Spring Festival, in the face of the serious and complex situation of epidemic prevention and control, “do not go home if necessary, the Chinese New Year in place” has become a new initiative. Several localities have introduced various policies and measures and reassuring benefits to encourage immigrants to “Chinese New Year on the spot.” Recently, reporters from the China Central Broadcasting Network interviewed many foreign staff members who stayed in Shaanxi over the New Year, such as corporate employees, university students, couriers, passengers, medical personnel, traffic police, and grassroots businessmen, and listened to the stories behind their “Chinese New Year on the spot”.
I’m not going home this year Write a letter home
“Before I didn’t have a cell phone, so we always wrote to contact each other. I can’t go home this year. I wrote a letter to my family. When the letter arrives, it is equivalent to my return.” One-year-old Liao Jingwen is a project on the Xi’an Subway Line 8 in Shaanxi. Class Leader No. Shaojing has been working outside for many years. This is the first time Liao Jingwen has not returned home for the New Year. He chose this method of “seeing the words as the face” to send his thoughts to his family.
On February 4, the Shaanxi Provincial Construction Union and the Northwest Company of the Fifth China Construction Bureau distributed New Year’s products to more than 80 workers who “stay in Shaanxi for the New Year” and they mailed workers in need free of charge. As soon as the New Year products were received, Liao Jingwen delivered the products that Hexin had packed in the express box and shipped back to his hometown in Nanchong, Sichuan.

Liao Jingwen told reporters that after seeing the “Chinese New Year on the spot” initiative, he spoke with his family that he planned to stay in Xi’an, Shaanxi for the New Year. The family supported him. During the video with his wife, a few days ago, his grandson ran up to the camera and said: “Grandpa, I used to buy toys when I came back, but if I can’t come back this year, you have to wrap me a big red envelope.”
Hearing the instructions his family gave him in the video, Liao Jingwen still felt a bit regretful. At the last Spring Festival, he had dined on New Year’s Eve with his family and talked to his older father. If he couldn’t go back to this year, Liao Jingwen wanted to write them a letter.
Speaking of the content of the letter, Liao Jingwen said, “The main thing I want to tell my family is that I am fine here, and many workers are staying for the New Year, and I also have a ‘big family’ here.
In Liao Jingwen’s opinion, a family letter can better represent her heart, and also made her feel the warmth of coming home to reunite. In this way, you hope to reassure your family and celebrate the New Year at home.
The Spring Festival is just a few days away. Liao Jingwen prepared red envelopes for his grandchildren and bought some year-end items for him, hoping to spend a special Spring Festival with the workers.
