RIVM: More deaths (189) reported than Tuesday due to delay in registering NOW

In the daily update, the National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM) reports 189 new deaths from the coronavirus in the daily update. That’s more than a day before (122) and a week before (147), which may be due to a delay in registration around Easter. The number of new hospital admissions was further reduced by 188.

So far, the number of reports was the highest on Tuesday. According to the RIVM, this is because many deaths and hospital admissions from Friday, Saturday and Sunday to Monday were processed in the administration.

However, Monday was also Easter Monday, so the peak appears to have shifted to Wednesday of this week.

Figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) showed last week that the total number of deaths from the coronavirus in the Netherlands may be double that of the RIVM figures, in part due to drawbacks in linking deaths outside hospitals by coronavirus.

The number of hospital admissions continues to decline

The number of hospital admissions increased by 188, continuing the decline that started in early April. According to RIVM, this indicates that the crown measurements are working.

A total of 28,153 (+734) people tested positive for the coronavirus. The actual number of infections is higher because not all crown patients can be tested. The people evaluated were mainly health workers, hospital patients, nursing home or nursing home residents, and other vulnerable people.
