Chief of Staff Gilbert Gapay (Gilbert Gapay) said that amphibious vehicles have been dispatched for search and rescue missions, “We will continue to search for missing persons and assist in damage assessment.” He reported that 39 people have died and 32 are missing.

Before the typhoon struck, most residents fled the coast and low-lying areas, and more than 350,000 people were evacuated to safe areas. The Philippine National Police said it has rescued more than 100,000 people, including 41,000 in the Capital Region.

The Philippines is affected by typhoons and tropical storms on average 20 times a year.
