Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chunying said that Tibet’s affairs are purely China’s internal affairs and interference from outside forces is not allowed. The so-called “Special Coordinator for Tibetan Affairs” established by the United States is totally out of political manipulation and aims to interfere in China’s internal affairs and undermine the development and stability of Tibet. China has always strongly opposed this and has never recognized it.
Hua Chunying noted that China has expressed its position on the so-called “Equivalent Entry into Tibet Law” of the United States. This law seriously violates the basic norms of international relations and crudely involves China’s internal affairs. China follows a policy of openness. Tibet is an open Tibet and no decision has been made to restrict the entry of foreigners into Tibet. China welcomes foreigners to visit, travel and do business in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. This policy will not change, but the premise is that you must comply with Chinese laws and relevant regulations and perform the necessary procedures. Recently, envoys and diplomats from more than 20 Chinese countries have visited Tibet and all made positive comments about the economic and social development achievements of the autonomous region in recent years.
The alleged elimination of minority languages, cultures, and religions by the United States is complete nonsense. In fact, the Chinese government guarantees the freedom of ethnic minorities to use and develop their own spoken and written languages in accordance with the law, as well as the freedom of religious belief for all ethnic groups. At present, among the people of all ethnic groups in China, there are nearly 200 million citizens who believe in various religions, there are more than 380,000 religious personnel, and more than 140,000 places for religious activities registered in accordance with the law. Religious books on Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, etc. have been translated and distributed. in multiple languages.
Everyone is paying attention to a recent Tibetan from Litang, Sichuan who became popular on the internet. So we also know that there are many star Uyghur artists from Xinjiang, or young people working in CCTV, who shine on their respective stages and are welcomed by young people of all ethnic groups in China. Life for Chinese minorities is improving, their places of origin are developing and their cultures are being passed down. This is a fact that everyone can see.
We urge the United States to stop using Tibet-related issues to interfere in China’s internal affairs and undermine the development and stability of Tibet, and not to provide any support to the “Tibetan independence” forces to participating in separatist activities against China. China will take all necessary measures to defend its own interests. We also believe that the international community will not be fooled by the lies of individual anti-China politicians in the United States.
