The ZF Foton Automatic Transmission Project in Jiaxing is an automatic transmission joint venture established by two Fortune 500 companies, Germany’s ZF and China’s largest commercial vehicle company, Foton Motor, to produce commercial vehicle transmissions. The company official said that thanks to the strong support and full cooperation of the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone, the project has become the project with the highest efficiency and construction quality in the history of the Futian Group. Since the beginning of production, the factory mainly produces high-end gearboxes for light and heavy duty. Production is stable, sales are increasing step by step, and business is developing well. Sales in 2020 are expected to reach 2.8 billion yuan, and the outlook is worth waiting for.

Chen Lizhong said that the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone is a development zone with a high concentration of foreign-funded enterprises. Today, more than 660 foreign-funded companies from more than 40 countries and regions have gathered. The ZF Foton automatic transmission project was jointly invested by the world’s Fortune 500 company (ranked 266 in 2019) Germany’s ZF AG and China’s leading commercial vehicle brand BAIC (Fortune 500) Foton Motor Co., Ltd. The first phase of the project has an investment of 5 billion yuan, and the production value will reach 20 billion yuan after all are reached.

Chen Lizhong pointed out that the introduction of the project is not easy. The significant location and transportation advantages of the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone, the good governance environment, and the high attention from the provincial and municipal governments have become the key factors for the implementation of the project. With the successful development of the project, its growth and momentum will be further highlighted. In November 2019, the Economic Development Zone successfully introduced the second ZF project, the China Asia-Pacific Industrial Park. ZF set up its China headquarters in the Jiaxing Economic Development Zone with an investment of 2.5 billion yuan, mainly producing vehicle axles and transmissions. System components are expected to reach production in three years.
