Geraint Thomas raised about 345,000 euros for British attention on Friday. The Welsh pilot of the INEOS team pedaled on his exercise bike for three half days.
The 33-year-old Thomas’ proceeds go to a National Health Service (NHS) project, for which the INEOS company makes disinfectants.
“I’ve never pedaled that long in a row so I’m a little nervous,” Thomas said before his action. “I’ll be pretty stiff at the end of the day, but it’s all for a good cause.”
Thomas, the winner of the 2018 Tour de France, broadcast his attempt over the past three days via live broadcast. Donations came immediately after their attempt had started.
In the past few days, there have been more initiatives to raise funds for UK healthcare. 99-year-old war veteran Tom Moore raised no less than 14 million euros on Thursday, his action was noted around the world, walking a hundred laps in his backyard behind his walker.
