On December 9, Wang Yupu was added to the list of deceased scholars on the official website of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, ranking 242 on this list.

The entry “Wang Yupu” on the official website shows that Wang Yupu, born in Xinmin, Liaoning, was born in October 1956 and was elected a scholar of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2007. He died on December 8, 2020.

As early as 2018, Wang Yupu was reported to have cancer. On July 6, 2018, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported that Wang Yupu suffered from pancreatic cancer. After a period of treatment, he returned to the hospital in Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. In May of the same year, the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong also stated that Wang Yupu had been ill for a period of time and that his condition had deteriorated significantly in mid-February 2018.

Wang Yupu worked for a long time in the oil system controlled by Zeng Qinghong and Zhou Yongkang of the Jiang School of the Chinese Communist Party. He served as Director of the Oilfield Development Division of Daqing Petroleum Administration Bureau, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Bureau, Director, Executive Deputy General Manager and Party Committee Member of Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd. ( October 2000 to December 2003, and became a director in September 1999), Chairman, General Manager, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Chief Engineer of Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd. (December 2003 to August 2009) , Deputy Governor of Heilongjiang Province (August 2009 to July 2010), nationwide Secretary of the Party Leadership Group, Vice President and First Secretary of the Secretariat of the Federation of Trade Unions (July 2010 to February 2013); Since February 2013, he served as Deputy Party Secretary of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (ministerial level); June 2014 to 2015 In April, he served as Undersecretary of the Party Leadership Group (Ministerial Level) and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; from April 2015 to September 2017, he served as Chairman, Party Secretary of China Petrochemical Corporation and Chairman of China Petrochemical Corporation (May 2015); since September 2017, he has served as Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the State Administration of Work Safety; Since March 2018, he has served as Minister of the Department of Emergency Management and Undersecretary of the Party Leadership; has served as Minister of the Department of Emergency Management since March 2020, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

During Wang Yupu’s tenure as director, executive deputy general manager, party committee member, chairman, chief executive officer and party deputy secretary of Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd., he was repeatedly named by Minghui.com for his involvement in the persecution of local Falun Gong practitioners.

Overseas Minghui Net reported on November 10, 2003 that since the Communist Party of China Jiang Zemin Group persecuted Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, until November 5, 2003, through layers of blocking, the names and surnames that can be verified are well documented. At least 21 Dafa disciples were tortured to death in Daqing City, including 5 former employees of the Daqing Petroleum Administration Bureau and 6 former employees of Daqing Oilfield Co., Ltd.
