The day before the holiday, Tesla “let it go” to reduce the price of the national Model 3 to less than 300,000 yuan.
On “May Day”, this “surprise” came as scheduled.
Tesla said on Weibo: From now on, the base price of the improved version of the standard battery life of the Model 3 in China will be adjusted to RMB 291800. According to this base price, the subsidized price will be RMB 271550.
“We hope that through this price adjustment, more Chinese consumers can enjoy more profitable products. At the same time, we will also adhere to the direct sales and service system to provide excellent service to car owners.”
Previously, on April 23, the Ministry of Finance and four other ministries issued the “Notice on Adjusting and Improving Subsidy Policy for New Energy Vehicles”, which stipulated that the price of new energy passenger vehicles before subsidies must be less than 300,000 yuan (including 300,000 yuan).
Tao Lin, Tesla’s vice president of external affairs, also said in an interview with Peng Mei News that Tesla hopes that the upgraded version of the Model 3 battery’s standard battery life can meet the new energy vehicle subsidy policy of China. The original intention of the price reduction is to hope that consumers will be able to enjoy subsidies for new energy passenger cars, not occupy a larger market share.
That said, the price cut also officially indicates that Tesla is moving into the 200,000 yuan price range. What worries the newly built automotive forces has finally become a reality.
Previously, Ideal Motors CEO Li Xiang twice expressed concern about Weibo: Designing a 300,000 subsidy threshold is basically a precise aid to Tesla in defeating national brands of pure electricity. Today Li Xiang also said on Weibo: “It is easy to predict the results, the most basic business knowledge.”
It is conceivable that Tesla’s move could make car brands in the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan price range not as good.
On the other hand, although Tesla’s price reduction is expected, the price adjustment model is limited to the improved version of the Model 3’s standard battery life, excluding other models. The long-running version of the domestically produced Model 3 of the model released in April was subsidized at a price of approximately 339,100 yuan.
Some car owners who have just booked the full-length version of the domestic Model 3 have said on Tesla’s Weibo: To check out the full-length version, some owners have expressed that they will become “looking forward to the party.”
It can be seen that the repeated models and prices of Tesla’s domestic Model 3 are easy to provoke so that consumers generate the excitement of the “harvest”. Although there may be a “true fragrance” situation in the future, the water will overflow, not to mention domestic consumption. The forces of new cars are also catching up.
