This is a scene that Yan Hua, who works at the Shanghai branch of ByteDance, will go through every year when he returns home, but is gone this year. Due to policies relevant to epidemic prevention and control, he decided to celebrate the New Year on the spot.
It is very busy on New Years. The night before New Year’s Eve, he didn’t leave work until two in the morning, when the streets were already empty. All he could see on the way was the lamppost and its long figure being dragged away.
Before that, he had left work around midnight for three consecutive days. “They are all things that cannot be completed but must be promoted.” Yan Hua, who is in charge of the advertising business, said: “There may be dozens of indicators in hand. Even if they are all completed, they need to be analyzed and summarized, and a report will finally be formed.”
In fact, because Douyin has become the exclusive interactive partner of CCTV Spring Festival Gala, ByteDance is the protagonist of this year in the entire Internet industry. According to Yan Hua’s understanding, the Spring Festival red envelope project team will have to require employees to be on duty on New Year’s Eve. Generally, the company will offer condolences and compensation to these colleagues through management, which may include meals, red envelopes, gift boxes, etc.
For service departments that are not only necessary, the company only encourages employees to celebrate the New Year locally and does not provide some special benefits. However, the company gave each employee a Spring Festival red envelope based on the number of years of work, more than 1,000 yuan a year, more than 3,000 yuan in two years, and about 6,000 yuan in three years. In Yan Hua’s opinion, the year-end bonus after the first quarter may be more attractive.
Yan Hua really struggled before coming home for the New Year and even bought the tickets. Yan Hua is in the advertising department, for many customers, the holidays are often times when the advertising effect is very good, so they must always be prepared to meet unexpected demands.
