Ma Rong, 54, was the chief nurse in the Department of Respiratory Medicine and is now the deputy director of the hospital office. He has worked for 36 years. Since March 2020, in accordance with the relevant requirements for the standardization of epidemic prevention and control in Hebei Province, Tangshan and other cities have sent personnel and equipment to Shijiazhuang Zhengding Airport and Shijiazhuang Office to assist at work. On December 15, 2020, Ma Rong and Dong Zhiqiang, a team of “one doctor, one driver” took the task to the Shijiazhuang transfer center. The center has more than 40 groups of vehicles, which are dispatched by the Shijiazhuang 120 Command Center.
“At first, I thought I could come back in a week, but after New Year’s Day, the epidemic in Shijiazhuang suddenly became tight.” Dong Zhiqiang said that on the night of January 2, the caller from the transfer center called, and all vehicles began to check the vehicle’s equipment and put on hold.
In the early morning of January 3, more than 30 ambulances appeared on the road and departed from the transfer center to Xiaoguozhuang Village, Zengcun City, Gaocheng District, to transfer confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia to designated hospitals. “I was very nervous, I felt like the instructions were etched into my hair,” Ma Rong recalled.
“I don’t have a set schedule. I have a bite without a bite. I want to get the job done quickly,” Ma Rong said. At that time, trains were continuously sent to Zengcun City, almost day and night. I don’t know how many times I went to Gaocheng, how many times villages were added.
At more than 1 a.m. on January 11, Ma Rong and Dong Zhiqiang received an order to go to the isolation point in Pingshan County to collect a confirmed case of new coronary pneumonia. “The patient is deaf and dumb and needs to communicate face-to-face with hand gestures. The risk of transference increases suddenly.” After helping the patient kill, Ma Rong led the patient step by step down the stairs and placed him in the car.
“I was so nervous in the taxi that I kept turning around and looking through the glass window,” Dong Zhiqiang said. After completing the transfer and returning to the center, it was already 7 in the morning, and the two hurried to rest. At 8 o’clock that night, Ma Rong and Dong Zhiqiang were again ordered to get out of the car. The density of the work made Ma Rong’s body feel overwhelmed and she passed out. “I woke up in the hospital. Although I have been working less these days, I want to improve and return to the team immediately,” said Ma Rong.

In recent days, Dong Zhiqiang’s main job has been to send other patients whose COVID-19 nucleic acid test results are negative to ordinary hospitals. This relieves him a bit: “I’m not so nervous anymore, I can basically eat three meals a day. Go when homework comes and rest when you return. “
