CCTV News:The Information Office of the State Council published yesterday (22) the white paper “Sustainable development of China’s transport.” The National Railways Administration indicated that by the end of 2020, the operating mileage of the national railways is expected to reach 146,000 kilometers. The “Fourteenth Five-Year Railway Development Plan” is under study and preparation, and the next step will promote the development of railway technological innovation.
It is estimated that by the end of 2020, national rail mileage will reach 146,000 kilometers, including 38,000 kilometers of high-speed rail and 90,000 kilometers of rail in the central and western regions. The double rail rate and the electrification rate reached 60% and 73%, respectively.
Yan Hexiang, chief engineer of the National Railway Administration, said that China has formed a high-speed train construction and equipment manufacturing technology system with independent intellectual property rights. The Chinese standard EMU “Fuxing” has managed to operate commercially at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour, and basically a series of product pedigree has taken shape. For the first time in the world, smart EMUs have achieved automatic driving at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The equipment level of high-power railway locomotives, heavy vehicles and communication signals has been considerably improved.
At the same time, further progress has been made in the internationalization of China’s railway standards, further progress has been made in railway interconnection, and technical equipment has been exported to more than 100 countries and regions around the world. China-Europe Express trains are developing rapidly, with a total of more than 32,000 trains operating as of the end of November 2020.
At present, the State Railway Administration is organizing the research and preparation of the “14th Five-Year Railway Development Plan”, and the next step will promote the development of railway technological innovation.
