A few days ago, Guizhou province announced that the remaining 9 impoverished counties would be withdrawn from the impoverished county sequence. So far, China’s 832 impoverished counties have lifted themselves out of poverty.
In accordance with the relevant policies and regulations on retirement from poor counties, the main standard of measurement for retirement from poor counties is the incidence of poverty. In principle, the incidence of poverty in poor counties will be reduced to less than 2% and in the western region to less than 3%. All provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly dependent on the Central Government) uniformly organize inspections of counties emerging from poverty and are responsible for the quality of exit from counties affected by poverty. After the poverty-stricken counties withdrew, the State Council’s Poverty Relief and Development Leading Group organized the relevant departments of central and state agencies and related forces to conduct random checks at exits for ensure that the results of poverty alleviation can stand the test. Poverty-stricken counties, poor villages, and poor households that have already pulled out of the poverty alleviation period, relevant support policies remain unchanged.
Industrial development, relocation, ecological compensation … Behind the poverty alleviation of every poor household is a systematic project, a tough battle that requires a lot of work. Since 2013, China has reduced the number of people living in poverty by more than 93 million people, with an average annual reduction of more than 10 million people. After this year’s efforts, the remaining poor will lift themselves out of poverty on schedule. Being poor for a long time, I hope to be well. The millennium dream of the Chinese nation to completely rid itself of absolute poverty and realize a well-off society in a comprehensive way will soon come true.
