Zhang Jun, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations, severely refuted it on the ground, resolutely opposed and completely rejected the false accusations made by some countries like the United States. Almost 70 countries echoed China’s position. Among them, Pakistan made a joint statement on Hong Kong-related issues on behalf of 55 countries in support of China, Cuba on behalf of 45 countries made a joint statement on Xinjiang-related issues in support of China, and Kuwait made a joint statement on name of 3 Arab countries in support of China, and also Many countries support China in their national speeches. All parties support China’s efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and unity, positively assess China’s achievements in human rights development, and oppose the politicization of human rights issues, double standards, and political confrontation. Strong support for China built up at headquarters, once again foiling attempts by some countries like the United States to discredit China’s human rights situation.
Zhang Jun pointed out that the United States and some other countries are out of fashion to provoke a confrontation. At a time when the international community most needed to work together, unite and cooperate, these countries sparked clashes, created divisions, and seriously poisoned the atmosphere of cooperation. Her despicable behavior completely violated the historical trend and completely placed herself on the wrong side of history.
Zhang Jun said that these countries’ acts of interfering in their internal affairs using human rights issues are unpopular. Zhang Jun emphasized that the cliches of these countries are completely inconsistent with the facts. China’s human rights achievements have attracted global attention and cannot be denied with lies and deception. China’s impeachment is the wrong target. In China’s 9.6 million square kilometers of land, there is no fear of war or displacement. 1.4 billion people share a peaceful, free and happy life. This is the largest human rights project and the best human rights practice.
Zhang Jun pointed out that the political conspiracy of these countries will never be successful. Blaming others cannot solve your own problems, much less cover up your own failures. Human rights are not the patent of a few people, much less a political tool. The protection of human rights is not just a Western model, countries have the right to choose a path that suits their own national conditions.
The Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly is the main commission that discusses issues such as human rights and social development. In October 2019, the United States mobilized some countries to take advantage of the human rights issue to take action against China, which was strongly opposed by the vast majority of countries and ended in failure.
