In order to fully implement the spirit of Secretary-General Jin Ping’s important instructions on saving food and preventing food waste, on September 4, the Jiaxing Municipal Commission for Disciplinary Inspection and Supervision held a special symposium on “strict diligence and frugality and stopping food waste.” Zhang Jianming, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Municipal Commission for Disciplinary Inspection and Director of the Municipal Supervision Committee attended the meeting and made a speech.
At the meeting, the Publicity Department of the Municipal Committee of the Party (City Civilization Office), the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, the Municipal Education Office, the Municipal Office of Agriculture and Rural, the Municipal Commerce Office ( Food and Materials Office), the Municipal Office of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, the Municipal Market Supervision Office, the Municipal Reception Office, the Municipal Office Affairs Center and others conducted reports and exchanges on development of work and the next step of work in the aspects of strict diligence and savings, preventing food waste.
Zhang Jianming pointed out that all departments (units) consider saving food and resolutely stopping food waste an important task, learning and understanding are timely, creating an environment is strong, implementation is fast, and supervision and inspection are effective. Zhang Jianming emphasized that hard work, diligence and thrift are the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation and the good style of our party. All departments (units) should fully implement the spirit of Secretary General Jinping’s important instructions to prevent food waste, effectively implement regulations and requirements for food preservation and curb food waste, and severely curb the unhealthy trend of luxury and waste.
Zhang Jianming put forth three requirements to further improve food preservation and stop food waste:
First, we must improve our political position and always maintain the political qualities of diligence and frugality. We must grasp the essence of the spirit, highlight the importance of strict economy; inherit the Chinese virtues, carry on the good style of hard work; insist on setting an example and leading the new style of table civilization.
Second, we must unite our efforts to fully implement effective measures to stop waste. We must perform our duties with due diligence and conduct refined guidance; focus on the key links to ensure complete supervision of the chain; eliminate extravagance and waste and promote healthy consumption; highlight work priorities and conduct accurate supervision.
Third, we must establish a long-term mechanism and continue to create a social atmosphere in which we are proud to save. It is necessary to strictly implement current regulations, promote strict savings and standardization; improve the relevant requirements in detail and promote the effective implementation of the system; conduct grassroots publicity and education to promote the normalization of civilized food.
