Dick Advocaat will enter the books as the oldest Eredivisie coach in history due to his contract with Feyenoord next season. The now 72-year-old from The Hague will succeed Foppe de Haan.

Lawyer, who announced Tuesday that he will also work at Feyenooord next, is already the second oldest Eredivisie coach of all time. On March 8, during the Rotterdammers’ last game for the crown crisis (2-0 victory over Willem II), he was 72 years 163 days.

Foppe de Haan was 72 years and 317 days when he was coach of sc Heerenveen on May 8, 2016 in the away game against ADO Den Haag (1-1).

The lawyer will assume De Haan’s record on the first day of the new season, which will only start after September 1 due to crown measures. The former national team coach will celebrate his 73rd birthday on September 27, 2020.
