Red Bull Racing CEO Helmut Marko is very optimistic that the Formula 1 season can start in July with two races at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
“A package of measures is currently being drawn up, so that we know under what conditions an Austrian Grand Prix can be held without an audience. And the signs indicate that there is a good chance it will be possible,” Marko told the public broadcaster. Austrian. ORF.
The French Grand Prix on June 28 is the first race on the calendar, which has been adjusted considerably due to the crown crisis, but that GP will probably not be able to continue either. Until mid-July, the French government cannot organize large public events.
That would make the Austrian GP start the Formula 1 season on July 5. Marko leads the discussions with the relevant authorities in his native country about the continuation of the race. The Austrian government has already said it wants to participate.

Extra race on Wednesday
There are intended to be no fans, journalists or guests at the event. “We will limit the number of people and the focus will be on television broadcasting,” said Marko. “And the most likely scenario is that everyone who comes to the Grand Prix will test negative for the coronavirus.”
The Red Bull CEO believes that this way even two races can be held on the Spielberg circuit. “First the normal Grand Prix on July 5 and then an additional two-day event with qualifying on Tuesday and the race on Wednesday afternoon.”
On Sunday, Silverstone manager Stuart Pringle said his circuit could also host two consecutive races. The British Grand Prix is scheduled for July 19, two weeks after the Austrian GP.
