1. The camera is better than you think, but limited.

If you just look at the specs, the camera on the iPhone SE 2020 is the same as the one on the iPhone 8. Still, you’ll take better photos with it. This is primarily due to the added processing power of the A13 chip and new features. For example, you can use the latest portrait mode and Smart HDR.

So iPhone SE takes better photos than iPhone 8, but it won’t conquer iPhone 11. Not surprisingly, iPhone SE is all about one lens. As a result, various functions are missing. For example, the newcomer does not support Deep Fusion and there is no night mode either.

2. No Face ID, Animoji or Animated Memoji

The front camera of iPhone SE 2020 is more similar to that of iPhone 11 than the camera of iPhone 8, but TrueDepth is missing. This camera technique can determine depth and is therefore essential for various functions. Due to the lack of TrueDepth, you cannot use Face ID on an iPhone SE 2020. Animoji and Memoji are also not compatible.

You don’t have to worry about locking your device securely. Thanks to the return of the physical start button, you can use Touch ID.

3. iPhone SE 2020 supports dual sim

From the iPhone XS, it is possible to use not one, but two SIM cards. A physical nanosim and an eSIM. This also applies to iPhone SE 2020 and has several advantages. Thanks to dual sim, for example, you no longer need a separate business phone, you can take a local subscription abroad, and you can take separate subscriptions for data and calls.

4. iPhone SE 2020 does not have a U1 chip

Much of the technology found in an iPhone 11 can be found in the new iPhone SE. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the U1 chip. This chip allows you to use ultra wideband technology. This allows your device to determine your location and that of other devices with a U1 chip even more precisely.

5. No 3D touch

With the arrival of the iPhone 11, Apple finally said goodbye to 3D Touch and replaced it with Haptic Touch. Still, there was hope that this technique would return on the iPhone SE 2020. It uses the same screen as the iPhone 8 and was still equipped with a pressure-sensitive screen. However, this is not the case. 3D Touch is now really permanently buried.

6. Antennas are fast, but not the fastest.

On paper, the iPhone SE 2020 appears to be as fast as the iPhone 11. The new device also supports Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit 4G. However, there is a difference. When the iPhone 11 uses a 4 × 4 MIMO antenna system, the SE is concerned with 2 × 2 MIMO. This is still enough to enjoy high-speed Internet, but it can be done faster.

7. AppeCare + and repairs are affordable

If you’re someone who sometimes drops their iPhone, it’s good to know that AppleCare + for iPhone SE 2020 is affordable. With this insurance, you are entitled to expert assistance for up to two years and covered against hardware repairs. With an iPhone 11 you pay 169 euros for that. With the iPhone SE 2020, that’s just 99 euros.
