SHANGHAI (Reuters) – China is capable of inflicting more military losses on India than in the past if it wants to compete with India, the state-backed newspaper Global Times reported on Tuesday. Armed countries.
Officials in New Delhi said on Monday that Indian forces had thwarted an attempt by Chinese troops to occupy a hill on the disputed border of Asian giants in the western Himalayas.
On the same day, a Chinese military spokesman demanded that India withdraw its troops, saying Beijing had illegally crossed its shared border. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said Chinese border troops had not crossed the Line of Actual Control.
“India has said that Chinese military activity exists,” the Global Times said in an editorial. The word “primit” shows that it was the Indian soldiers who took the destructive action, and the Indian soldiers started the obstruction this time. ”
He added that India was facing a “powerful China” and there should be no “illusion” that New Delhi should support Washington on this issue.
“But if India wants to compete, China has more resources and capabilities than India. If India wants a military showdown, the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) forces the Indian Army to suffer more severe losses than in 1962. ”
The Global Times has been published by the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the ruling Communist Party of China.
Tensions between the two armies have been rising for months in the freezing snow desert of the Ladakh region.
In June, 20 Indian soldiers were killed in hand-to-hand fighting with Chinese troops in the nearby Galvan Valley, in the worst military conflict of more than half a century in the neighborhood.
Both sides agreed to withdraw after the clash, but the Indian military accused Chinese forces of violating the agreement over the weekend.
