“Verdazo”: BancoEstado launches mortgage with a rate of 1.79% for those who buy sustainable housing | Economy

The president of State Bank, Sebastián Sichel; together with the Minister of the Environment, Carolina Schmidt, and the Minister of Energy, Juan Carlos Jobet, presented the new platform “Mundo Verde” of the state entity, which groups both investment and financing products, whose objective is support economic reactivation in a sustainable way.

In addition, BancoEstado announced a historic interest rate of 1.79% for homes that have energy efficiency certification.

The president of the entity, Sebastián Sichel, assured that “a few days ago we launched the ‘Hipotecazo’. Today we are announcing a ‘Verdazo’, which are special conditions to buy an Ecohousing ”.

“If the ‘Hipotecazo’ already had a historical rate of 1.99%, In the case of a certified ecological home, the rate will be 1.79%. That is, if one is looking for a real estate project certified as sustainable, you will receive the lowest rate ever ”added.

Sichel explained that “when we talk about sustainability at the bank, we talk about a strategy that is a fundamental pillar for us. We want to put the right incentives so that when we support with financing, we do it in better conditions for those looking for green alternatives in the development of their projects, encouraging a sustainable market ”.

The Ecovivienda is a loan for the acquisition of new homes that have an energy efficiency rating with letter D or higher (ABC). This will have an annual rate of 1.79%, with financing of 80% and a 20-year term.

Another of the initiatives announced as part of BancoEstado’s green strategy was the “Mi Futuro Verde” mutual fund, an investment alternative for any type of person, natural or legal, and whose contributions will be invested in companies that are socially responsible and / or that contribute to climate change.

With a minimum amount to enter of $ 1,000, 60% of the equity of this fund will be invested in companies that have certifications issued by international organizations, which must prove their commitment to sustainable operation and whose business is aligned with the generation of value , with a high social and environmental impact.

For her part, the Minister of the Environment, Carolina Schmidt, said that “as a Government we promote a transition towards the sustainable development and the platform that we launched together with BancoEstado will allow people to get financing to start green businesses or convert their homes to clean technologies, a tremendous support for a clean, sustainable reactivation with a social focus ”.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy, Juan Carlos Jobet, remarked that “the energy sector has a key role in the post-covid-19 recovery. We are promoting a series of measures and programs that allow us to take advantage of our renewable energy potential and that its benefits reach people and small and medium-sized companies ”.

In this sense, he added that “a week ago the Ministry of Energy launched the successful Casa Solar program to promote the use of solar panels in homes and in this way help the pockets of Chileans.”
