After this week Providencia entered the Preparation phase of the Step by Step plan, which means that it will not have quarantine or business days or weekends- The municipality informed that there are already around 100 commercial premises operating and that half of them correspond to restaurants and cafes.
This morning, the mayor of Providencia, Evelyn Matthei, walked alongside the Minister of Transport, Gloria Hutt, Manuel Montt Avenue, where restaurant tables were set up in part of the road, so that they can serve safely.
“In Providencia there are 100 stores open (50 of them correspond to restaurants and cafes) and 55% of the people who worked with them have already returned, which means more security and stability for those workers who had concerns about what would happen in the future, ”said the mayor.
The communal chief added that there will also be an inspection of the trade, so that it complies with the maximum allowed capacity. The standard indicates that restaurants and cafes can operate with 50% of their capacity, with a distance of two meters between tables.
The mayor added that, in total, the partial closure of 17 streets in the commune will be ordered, to give more space to restaurants, so a track will be removed from cars. Between the arteries that will have this partial closure are Pedro de Valdivia, between Providencia and Andrés Bello; Manuel Montt, between Providencia and Eliodoro Yáñez and Orrego Luco-Norte, as well as some sections in the Bellavista neighborhood.
Minister Hutt, meanwhile, assured that due to the pandemic the need has arisen to “use the streets in a different way. We need distance and the only public space available in dense cities is roads ”.
