A group of neighbors of La Reina demonstrated this Monday against the process of bidding, in which the Chilean’s Army intends to sell land that belongs to the State to private 25 billion pesos.
Remember that the Chilean Army Welfare Command it raised a public tender in June of this year, where they put up for sale a land in the capital commune of 6.8 hectares.
As stated in the exempt resolution 232 of December 29, 1989, the place was transferred free of charge by the Ministry of National Assets to the Army to be used for housing purposes.
After 31 years, now the military institution intends to sell the vacant site for 862,872 UF, that is, about 25 billion pesos.
Therefore, the deputy of Humanist Action, Tomás Hirsch, and the councilors (DC) Sara Campos and Álvaro Delgado, They sued the Army for a nullification of public law to recover the ceded land.
Currently, the process is being conducted by the minister of the Santiago Court of Appeals, Fernando Carreño Ortega.
And before the imminent sale, neighborhood organizations of La Reina together with the parliamentarian and the councilors met this morning to demonstrate against the bidding process.
Jaime Medina, leader of a committee of relatives of the commune, assured that “it is an issue that has us restless because housing is a latent and real need.”
“If we can recover these lands to be used for social housing, it would be of great help to solve this problem that we have as a community,” he said.
Along these lines, Deputy Hirsch, pointed out the concern of the neighbors before the millionaire real estate business that the military institution intends to carry out.
“Both the families of La Reina and the authorities are deeply concerned about this tender that the Army intends to make of land that should be available to La Reina and with which they intend to do a real estate business of 25 billion pesos,” he said. .
“This tender is totally irregular and we have filed a lawsuit to prove it, which has already been accepted by the Minister of the Court of Appeals Fernando Carreño,” he added.
For her part, Councilor Sara Campos stressed that this Tuesday, September 15, the bidding period ends.
“Those lands are not theirs, but the Treasury. We have opposed the bidding and hope that there will be no bidders. Even so, we continue forward: we hope that Minister Carreño will carry out a serious investigation so that this Army negotiation ends, where they appropriated the land through a legal trick, ”he stressed.
Meanwhile, Councilor Álvaro Delgado pointed to an alleged lack of control on the part of the authorities of the Army’s actions.
“The Army currently has a real estate portfolio that occupies according to economic needs and without any control of the political authorities,” he criticized.
“We believe that the Minister of Jurisdiction Carreño weighs these elements, considering that the Armed Forces have made an abusive use of a regulation from 1971 to transfer land. This has happened from the dictatorship until the first years of the Concertación. What is strange is that no government has put a limit on this. We hope that justice will declare the nullity and accept our demand ”, he sentenced.
