More than 72 thousand workers are applying to the subsidies for hiring and return to government work almost a month after its launch.

Regarding the economic recovery, the Minister of Finance, Ignacio Briones, affirmed that foreign investors “trust” the institutional framework of the constitutional process.

With almost 16,800 companies applying, more than 72 thousand workers could benefit from subsidies for employment and return to work promoted by the Government, whose commissioning was on September 29.

More than 70% of the applications are from micro, small and medium-sized companies that 49% applied to hire new workers, which will take effect in another month for just over 32 thousand beneficiaries.

While, 51% applied to subsidize the salary of 40 thousand workers that they had their contracts suspended. The Minister of Labor, María José Zaldívar, stated that this reflects the effectiveness of the Employment Protection Law.

The director of the Business School of the Universidad Mayor, Francisco Castañeda, believes that this vision is very optimistic. “I believe that the great focus that the economy has today is to recover the economic focus and that is the challenge.”

Both lines of the subsidy they contemplate an expense of 2 billion dollars, and they intend to finance a universe of up to 1,300,000 workers.
