The National Association of Tax Employees (ANEF) noted that “the Government once again tries to blame the public for its mistakes and improvisations” and accused a “political use of the ultra-right to denounce the public function”, after the complaint of the Internal Revenue Service (SII) that detected that 437,703 workers obtained the Middle Class Bonus declaring a lower amount than the real one in salaries, among them 37,100 State officials.
The news prompted a hard onslaught from the right. The head of the UDI bench, María José Hoffmann, next to deputy Jorge Alessandri, they asked the Comptroller General of the Republic to initiate an administrative summary against the public officials involved as soon as possible, while the leader of the Republican Party, José Antonio Kast, accused that “the fraud of the Middle Class Bond is serious and requires urgent investigations and sanctions. That #ReturnLaPlata and dismiss the public officials involved in these events. “
He president of the union, José Pérez DebelliHe assured that the SII complaint “confirms once again the string of errors that the Government has made” in the design and implementation of the Middle Class Bonus, which even underwent adjustments.
“Here there is a political responsibility of the Government, the Minister of Finance and also the director of the Internal Revenue Service (…) the design of bad public policy has these consequences,” he said.
At the same time, the leader regretted that the event lends itself to a “political manipulation of some sectors that seek to discredit the role of public officials and the State.”
“Let’s not threaten, public officials are not in collusion like businessmen are. Please!” Said the president of ANEF, noting that this case cannot be compared to the Penta Case, business collusions or the “ Milicogate ”or the“ Pacogate ”.
From the right they have insisted on sanctions, pointing out that the bond is explicit in stating that the beneficiaries had to prove a decrease in their income of at least 30% to access. “What the SII denounced is of the greatest seriousness, because not only those 37 thousand public officials would have falsified the information to access the voucher, which may even be considered a crime, but that meant that many people, especially the most vulnerable and of the middle class, they will be left without that financial aid due to the irresponsibility of these officials ”, accused the UDI deputies.
For his part, José Antonio Kast stated that the “Middle Class Bonus Law is clear: those who received a benefit that does not correspond must return it and concrete sanctions against those who deceive or simulate their financial situation to obtain it. Furthermore, we demand that the public officials involved be removed from office ”.
The SII established a procedure for workers to restore unduly received amounts, without readjustments, penalties or interest, through a platform available on the website of the General Treasury of the Republic, until November 30. The fiscal resources involved reach US $ 256 million.
