The bad news will not stop in 2020. To the long list of artists and celebrities who left this year a last-minute name was added: it is the well-known British rapper and producer MF DOOM, who passed away at 49 years.
Daniel Dumile’s death occurred last 31 October as reported by his wife Jasmine on MF DOOM’s social media.
“He was the best husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend that I could ask for. Thank you for all the things you showed me, taught me and gave to me, our children and our family”, were the parting words from the rapper’s wife.
Since the mid-90s Daniel Dumile began rapping with a particular lyrical style and a mask similar to that of the villain “DOOM” from the Marvel comics. This character was the main inspiration for the cover of “Operation: Doomsday”, her acclaimed 1999 debut album.
In addition to a strong solo career, MF DOOM served as a producer for various artists of the genre and collaborated on various projects with colleagues such as Danger Mouse, Ghostface Killah and Damon Albarn (Gorillaz, Blur), among others.
For now, the causes of the rapper’s death are unknown.
