After the appointment, the president of the DR, the also deputy Catalina Pérez, affirmed that supporting the former student leader allows both to the party and to the Broad Front “to continue advancing at a firm pace”.
“I am very happy to be able to announce that the council proclaimed Boric as the presidential candidate, to which we hope they will be a broad opposition primaries “said the parliamentarian.
“We are convinced that Gabriel represents the Frente Amplio project and I have no doubt that with their conviction, courage, commitment and capacity for dialogue we will initiate a cycle of governments of change, of transformative policies that allow Chileans to live better and where the demands that citizens have demanded are put forward. this time on the streets ”, he added.
For his part, Deputy Miguel Crispi affirmed that the definition by Boric is “very important news and positive ”since he trusts his leadership and believes that he has“ the strength ”to help and lead this process as Broad Front.
Boric has already launched his candidacy. He did it on Thursday, in Punta Arenas, together with supporters and social leaders. Now he must collect 24 thousand signatures to present it officially.
In the instance, Boric focused his words on unity and greeted other letters from the opposition, especially communist mayor Daniel Jadue and former socialist spokesperson Paula Narváez. However, he was critical of Pamela Jiles (PH), his peer in the House.
With this support for Boric, the Broad Front as a whole must decide who will represent them in the upcoming presidential race, if he or the also deputy Marcelo Díaz.
Both cards agree that only one should participate in the primaries July 4, but there are still disagreements on the mechanism to achieve it.
As a candidate for La Moneda, Boric has already begun to generate reactions in big business.

“It does not seem the right thing to do from the point of view of the institutionality of the company. It is as if the shareholders wanted to participate in 50% of the management of a union, ”Sutil commented on Radio Universo.
