It seems that we will have to wait longer than previously thought, for the second withdrawal of 10%. It is expected that this Monday, December 7, the law – promulgated on Friday by Piñera – will be published in the Official Gazette, however, as confirmed this Sunday by the general manager of the AFP Association, Fernando Larraín, the requests to receive the money were postponed until next Thursday.
The executive explained to Radio Cooperativa that the administrators are making an effort to anticipate some deposits and not pay for the entire last business day provided by law.In this process, some people are likely to receive their payments a few days in advance “but not before the 10 business day deadline”; Larraín indicated.
People who make their request on December 10, effectively receive their payment shortly before Christmas. As explained by the general manager of the AFPs, the deadline to pay is December 24.
Larraín also commented that the process will begin this Thursday from 10:00 a.m. and will be completely virtual during the first two weeks. Later, he said, there will be branches to make applications in person.
The AFP boss finally added that people will be able to enter the website of their pension fund manager where they will have to decide if they want to make the first or second withdrawal – in case the first has not been collected previously.
It is worth mentioning that the government had announced that the first payments would be available as of December 17, but Larraín himself reiterated in that instance that he could not assume this commitment since, legally, the AFPs have until December 24 to pay the money. requested the same December 10.
