Police say the bodies of five children have been found in a private apartment in the West German city of Solingen.
They provided a few preliminary details about the search, with no information on the cause of death.
Emergency services were called to a residential block in the Hasseldale area of the city on Thursday.
Police are calling the incident a criminal act, and are expected to provide more details later.
According to unconfirmed reports published on the German news website Build, the five children were between one and eight years old. A sixth child, aged 11, is said to have survived.
A few details are given about the children’s parents, although there are unconfirmed reports that the 27-year-old mother tried to kill herself at a train station in D ડsseldorf.
A local police spokesman told the build: “We can’t say anything about the purpose yet. The mother must be visited.”
