The Chicago Department of Aviation plans to set up Covid-19 testing for both passengers and staff at Midway and O’Hare International Airports.
In a news release issued on Friday, CDA said it had received offers from vendors hoping to provide testing services on both vendors. The department said “successful bidders will be able to provide both PCR and quick tests and have the ability to start testing before the start of the December holiday travel season.
On Tuesday, a drive-up COVID test site will be set up at Midway and will be available to the community as well as airport passengers and staff. In addition, the airport seeks to create another inside-out site within the facility.
Negative coronavirus tests are required for travel to many international destinations.
According to the CADA, O’Hare will feature a walk-up, pre-security site in the terminal area, as well as a drive-up test site in the remote parking lot.
All sites will be limited to staff and flyers except for the drive-through testing facility at Midway. For the remaining three destinations, users will be required to show proof of flight or proof of airport employment.
The deadline for sellers to submit bids is November 30 at 9 p.m. The winner will be notified the same day, officials said.
