Check the facts: Georgia’s military ballots are not missing

Around 12:30 a.m. Friday, the president indicated that something negative was happening in Georgia, where Biden was leading by about 1,500 votes as of Friday afternoon. Trump’s tweet suggests the “disappearance” of military ballots could be a contributing factor to Biden’s lead in the state.

“Where are the missing military ballots in Georgia? What happened to them ?, Trump.” Tweeted.

First facts: It is wrong to suggest that military ballots are missing there. While there are military ballots that have been issued but have not yet been counted, there is zero evidence that they are somehow “missing”. Or anything with that in common has happened to them. It is possible that they are in the process of being sent back to Georgia from abroad, as is the normal process.

About 18,000 military ballots have already been sent and are being counted by noon on Friday, according to Gabriel Sterling, the voting system’s implementation manager for the state’s Georgia secretary. Under Georgia law, the remaining 8,410 military and foreign ballots can be counted even if they come close to business today and are marked by election day.

“That doesn’t mean there’s a bucket of 8,410 votes,” Sterling said. “It will be more than 0 and less than 8,410.”

It is worth noting that just because someone requested a vote does not mean that they have submitted it and mailed it back. The military ballet acts like a ballet for many foreign U.S. citizens. Statesside military personnel who do not always have a place in their domestic record are also eligible.
