Check the facts: Biden plans to ‘end racism’ by misleading Trump’s new announcement

Associated with the fracking technician’s testimonial, the ad claims that Biden will end King King, and among others shows a strict cut clip of him: “No new fracking.”

First facts: Biden is not running on a proposal for a complete ban on fracking and it was not part of his written plan. That being said, he has also created confusion about his stance during the first campaign, first some of his remarks during the Democratic primary and then during the final presidential debate on October 22.

The clip, featured in the ad, bid to Vermont Sen about the change in the Wide atmosphere during the March 15 discussion. On the same evening as the exchange with Bernie Sanders, the Biden campaign made it clear to reporters that Biden was reiterating his plan to ban oil and gas permits on public land, not a complete ban on new framing, which the president cannot do.
Biden’s written plan proposes a “ban on allowing new oil and gas on public lands and water”, “nowhere near the end of new fractures or all fractures on public lands and water.” Biden has made it clear that he does not support a nationwide harassment ban (although in part he does not believe such a ban will pass). However, it also “promises to establish an implementation mechanism to achieve net-zero emissions after 2050,” which will almost certainly lead to a significant reduction in fracking.

There is some basis for the Trump campaign’s continued attacks against Biden’s stance on fracking. During the July 2019 Democracy Preliminary Debate, CNN’s Dana Bash asked if there would be a place for fossil fuels, including coal and fracking, in a bidon administration. To which Biden replied, “No, we will – we will do its job. We will make sure it is over and no subsidy for any of it, either – any residual fuel.”

During the president’s final debate, Trump referred to Biden’s past remarks to falsely urge the former vice president to never say he opposed the breakup. Biden then tried to clarify his position and claimed that his past opposition was specifically to break only on federal soil. While it is untrue to say that Biden has never protested against Frasing, it is also unfair for Trump to claim that Biden’s current plan is to end fracking if elected.
