Ten people who attended a party in Chatham City on Cape Cod on July 12 tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Cape Cod Times.
On Tuesday, the state Department of Public Health warned Chatham officials of a possible group of COVID-19 cases linked to the party, which was attended by several restaurant workers. One of the infected people is a Chatham resident, the Times reports.
Chatham Director of Natural Resources Robert Duncanson told the Chatham Selectmen Board on Tuesday that officials were concerned about the spread of the virus during the big holidays and noted: “We have seen this happen in other parts of the country.” , reports the Times.
The case group news comes when several Chatham restaurants temporarily closed due to coronavirus infections among staff, the Times reports.
On Wednesday, Massachusetts health officials reported another 18 deaths from coronavirus, bringing the state total to 8,249.
Authorities also confirmed another 192 COVID-19 cases, bringing the state count to at least 107,413. That is based on 10,786 new molecular tests reported Wednesday, according to the Department of Public Health.
