Dan Hibiki did not sit really high on people’s radars when it came to predicting the “Season V” roster for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition. However, he will once again be playable alongside Rose, Oro, Akira Kazama (from Rival Schools), and another to become a fighter.
Although Dan is often relegated to the status of “joke character”, he has previously appeared in a few Street Fighter titles. HiFight recently released a video comparing Dan’s animations of the development music shown for Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition to Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter Alpha.
Upon watching the video, it immediately becomes clear that Dan’s taunts behave a little differently compared to what Alpha fans might remember.
On the side of player 1, Dan will perform a hand pump with his left hand in Street Fighter 5. As for the Street Fighter Alpha version, Dan will use this task instead of his right hand.
Looks like the intention here is to have Dan in front of the camera while he taunts. Street Fighter Alpha had Dan turn his back to the camera as he did so.
Like many other Street Fighter 5 animations, Dan has an overly dramatic ending animation after adding attacks. More than likely, these animations will cancel in other actions.
Watch the video below to see how Dan has evolved over the years:
