The WWE Extreme Rules were loaded with Championship matches, and Tag Team The New Day champions were the first to defend their titles against Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura. The latter has been in a tear recently and put New Day through a few boards on SmackDown. That’s why the spirits were on when these four went up to the ring, and each one was shot during the first minutes of the match. However, only one could reign supreme at the end of matches, and that was Cesaro and Shinsuke.
The stipulation for the match was to put your opponent across a table to seal the victory, and no tags were needed either, so that anyone and everyone could be in action at the same time. The steel tables and steps didn’t take long to come out and be used as weapons, as Big E learned pretty quickly.
Cesaro and Shinsuke would bond a bit with Kofi, but he was able to flip the tables and clear the ring with the help of Big E, and the duo got Cesaro to prepare for the table break.
Cesaro and Shinsuke responded and knocked out Kofi and Big E, and they almost had Kofi ready to go through a table, but Big E grabbed his partner’s feet before they could.
Then they tried to do the same with Big E, but he was able to avoid it and use his size to reverse his momentum. That led Shinsuke to get another table under the ring, but he wouldn’t be the last to grab a table, since later Kofi and Big E would do the same, but would stack their table on the other table.
No one would go through it at the moment, as Cesaro managed to knock Big E down and swing him on Shinsuke’s foot. However, Kofi would take them both out, cleaning the ring once more.
Big E and Cesaro would end up perched on the top turnbuckle, and Shinsuke would dodge Big E’s attack, sending him out of the ring. Kofi’s attempt to put Cesaro on a table would be stopped by Shinsuke, who came to help. Together they put Kofi on a table and claim the titles for them.
